How to remove McAfee from Mac?

Removing your current McAfee antivirus software from your Mac device is fairly easy to do. Just follow the steps below and you’re good to go. But before you uninstall you McAfee security, make sure that you have another antivirus software ready to be installed immediately after the removal of McAfee. You simply cannot risk leaving your Mac device unsafe and unprotected even for an hour.

Close browsers

The first thing you need to do for the removal of McAfee from your Mac device if to close all your browsers, like the Safari and Chrome to make sure that all the plug-ins are completely removed as well in the proper way.

Open applications folder

After all browsers are closed, go to the Dock area and locate the Applications folder, then open it.

Choose McAfee Internet Security Uninstaller

In the Applications folder you can find the McAfee Internet Security Uninstaller option, and you need to click it two times.


After you double click on the McAfee Internet Security Uninstaller choice, choose the option Continue and click it.

Enter password

After you click on the Continue button, you will be asked for you administrator password, and you need to enter the correct password in the box provided.


Once you are sure that input the right administrator password, you can enter punch on the Enter key on your keyboard, or simply click on OK on your screen.


When you are done clicking on the OK button, you will be taken to the last screen of the uninstallation process, where you need to click on the Finish button to complete the removal process of the McAfee antivirus software from your Mac device.


In case that you will encounter an error while uninstalling the McAfee from your Mac device, or the process simply refuses to go through, you need to perform simple troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Check your battery, and if the battery is still full or halfway through, turn off your Mac device completely, and wait for 3o seconds before you turn it back on. Once your Mac device is back on, repeat the same process from step two. If the problem persists, call Mac.
